Lathtanaphone Keomanythan
Lathtanaphone Keomanythan was a student when friends recommended working at Digital Divide Data. She was at DDD in the mornings, attended classes at the National University of Laos in the afternoons, and studied accounting in the evenings. Her main work at DDD was digitizing old books. After DDD, she became an accountant, and the computer foundations from DDD gave her an advantage. "If I had only studied at school without working with DDD, I probably wouldn't have had as much knowledge as I do now," she says.
She's now able to support her family and her younger brother's studies. What she particularly likes about DDD is that it provides opportunities for people with disabilities to work and earn income without discrimination. She stays in touch with former staff through Facebook, and DDD organizes activities every summer. Her advice for DDD: advertise more, because many people still don't know about all the opportunities DDD offers for disadvantaged people.
